The day after

Here is Scott's picture in Grand Forks yesterday afternoon waiting to get in to see Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. (I guess there are a few Democrats in North Dakota!)

A picture of the big screen

Barack Obama in Grand Forks, North Dakota

Way down there you can see Hillary Clinton, who showed up an hour late, causing the crowd to diminish in size from the previous "Uff dah" crowd that Barack Obama saw!

Hillary on the big screen
Due to Hillary being an hour late, and then talking for over an hour, Scott didn't get home until wee hours of the morning. I didn't even hear him come in, but I think he said he should have been home around 2 a.m. It was the chance of a lifetime and I'm glad he was able to go and be a part of North Dakota history.
I woke up at 6:59 (1 minute before my alarm went off!) this morning to get ready to go scrapbooking at the Civic Center. I had a good time, and got 6 pages done. I know that seems pretty pathetic (which it actually is) to get 6 pages done in 9 hours, but it's what I love to do. That's 6 more pages that I would have gotten done had I stayed home.
Scott called me several times (exactly the reason I have never wanted to own a cell phone). One, to thank me for the kids getting to bed so late last night. Two, to tell me they were going to Washburn to pick up my big surprise that I'll tell you about in a minute. And three, to tell me supper was my responsibility (even though I wasn't finishing up at the Civic Center until 5:30 p.m.) Maybe that had something to do with the fact that I only got 6 pages done? (I doubt it.) I should have turned the phone off, or forgotten it all together.
The big surprise I wanted to share is our new, OLD piano! Check it out! It's big AND beautiful!!
I have been searching for a piano for several months now. My Mom has been telling me to get on the stick and she would help buy one for the kids. I've been watching them on bismanonline, and they were either too expensive, or pretty dinged up. I got lucky the other day and found this piano, a Story & Clark, listed for FREE! Yes, you read that right, FREE! Scott, his friend Johann, and the kids borrowed our neighbors truck, and a trailer from DU and drove to Washburn to pick it up today. We were going to do it tomorrow, but since the forecast is for 7 inches of snow tomorrow, Scott figured today would be a better day. It took 4 men to load it onto the trailer, then it took 3 men and a little bit of help from myself, to get it into the house. Unfortunately we have some heafty grooves imprinted into the linoleum because it was so heavy rolling it across the floor, but it's nothing that a few area rugs can't fix. The kids were messing around with it and having fun before bed, and I even sat down to play a few songs that I know from long ago! Emma was impressed! When Scott got home from gassing up and washing the neighbors' truck, Emma says, "Mom, show Dad how good you can play the piano!" HA HA! I took piano lessons for a short time when I was around 3rd or 4th grade, but after persistently hounding my Mom to let me quit, I didn't stick with it. I wish I had. I got the name of a piano tuner from our friend, Juanita, so I plan to call him up in the near future to see if it can be tuned. I don't know that it has ever been tuned, or at least it wasn't while in the possession of its previous owners. I am thrilled to death with it, and especially for the fact that it was FREE! (Mom was just as excited as I was!) Emma informed me that she wants to take piano lessons. Gage said, "I'll think about it!" :-)
